BEAR Scotland Announces A83 Improvement Scheme

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland has announced a £260,000 road surface improvement scheme for a section of the A83 at Brenfield Bay, set to get underway on Wednesday 29 June.

The investment from Transport Scotland will involve improvements over an 860 metre section of the A83, creating a safer and smoother journey for road users.

The overnight project is expected to take place over ten nights, with works undertaken between 8pm and 5am each night and full completion expected by 5am on Wednesday 13 July. No work will be undertaken on Friday or Saturday nights.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of traffic management arrangements. Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times, and local access for residents and scheduled bus services will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable.

Commenting on the improvements, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative said: "This surfacing project on the A83 at Brenfield Bay will help address any defects and greatly improve this section for road users.

"The overnight closures are essential to the safe completion of the works given the narrow widths of the A83 at this location. We've taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight.

"Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information."
