BEAR Scotland has announced a £195,000 programme of surface improvement works for the A90 south of Crimond, due to begin on Monday 13 June.

The project will address defects in the road surface on the section of the A90 near Rattray, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday 13 June and is expected to take place over three nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am. All works are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Thursday 16 June, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and road users, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime and local access will be maintained throughout the duration of works.


Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £195,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"We've taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing the traffic management outwith the stated working hours.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."

All waste materials and spoil resulting from these road works will be re-cycled in accordance with Scottish Environment Project Agency (SEPA) policies and procedures.
