BEAR Scotland has announced a road surface improvement scheme worth £670,000 on sections of the A96 westbound at Craibstone Roundabout, with works set to get underway from Monday 18 April.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the westbound section of the A96, between Craibstone and Tyrebagger, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday 18 April and is planned to take place over three weeks. Works will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. All works are expected to be complete by 6.30am Monday 9 May, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, lane closures and a convoy system will be in place during working hours on the westbound carriageway between Craibstone Roundabout and Tyrebagger Junction. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £670,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A96, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"The road closure on the westbound carriageway is essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists however we've taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the works overnight with convoy.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A96.
