Viridis To Help Loch Lomond Transition To Net Zero

Construction News Image
Sustainable building services firm Viridis has been appointed by Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority to support the organisations transition to net zero.

Viridis, which prides itself on adopting a pioneering approach to sustainability, will work alongside National Park staff to create and implement a route map for transitioning the organisation to net-zero and follows an initial feasibility study, which identified the Park's direct energy usage across the entire organisation.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority has set an ambitious target, aiming to lead by example and demonstrate best practice for reaching net-zero, with the goal of becoming carbon neutral ahead of the 2045 Scottish target. The Park Authority will work with a number of partners, including Viridis, to achieve this.

Lee Marshall, managing director at Viridis, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be appointed by Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority to support them to deliver their Mission Zero route map into the implementation stage as it's a truly forward-thinking project.

"Our initial feasibility study left no stone unturned, examining every energy source used across the park from buildings to vehicles. It has given us a really solid platform to develop a route map to carbon zero and we're confident that by employing smart technology, such as solar flowers as well as PV panels and fuel cells, we can enable the Park to transition to carbon neutral.

"It's an incredibly exciting project and it's developments such as this where we can make a real difference by introducing tomorrow's standards today - so we can't wait to get started."

Viridis, which has offices in Stirling and Nottinghamshire, firmly believes that sustainability doesn't have to be an expensive word. It will therefore propose the introduction of multiple energy generating solutions such as wind, solar, battery, kinetic, hydro, air, and ground source heat pumps to help the Park Authority reach its Mission Zero target.

Charlotte Wallace, climate action manager at Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority said: "As a National Park Authority, we believe it is important that we demonstrate leadership on climate action. We have made a commitment as an organisation to reach net-zero by 2030, and while our Mission Zero route map is bold and ambitious, that is exactly what is needed in the face of the climate crisis we are facing.

"We are embedding climate and nature in everything we do and look forward to taking our Mission Zero route map forward in the years to come."

Viridis is committed to creating a greener, more sustainable future and specialises in providing building services solutions that incorporate renewable, low carbon, MEP systems for the built environment.
