Shetland Islands Council has announced a programme of essential maintenance works on the linkspan at Symbister ferry terminal in Whalsay, due to get underway early next month.
The maintenance involves major structural work and the linkspan will be taken out of use. Vehicles will be unable to use the ferries which will operate as a foot passenger only service during this time, running to the Winter Timetable.
The planned dates for these works are from 1930 hours on Friday 1st April to 0600 hours on Monday 4th April 2022, weather permitting.
This work forms part of the Council’s ongoing linkspan replacement programme, that has also seen similar work on ferry terminals at Skerries and Vidlin.
