A ScottishPower proposal to build a new village on the site of the former Inverkip power station has received planning approval.
The development, named Brueacre Village, includes 650 new homes, a village centre, community facilities and open spaces, including a public park and a network of foot and cycle paths.
The proposal also includes the upgrading of the existing road network, with a new roundabout on the A78, which will give access to the site.
It is understood that following approval of the proposal, ScottishPower now plan to sell the site to a housebuilder to progress the development.
