Road Surface Improvement Works Announced For A92

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland has announced £150,000 road surface improvement works on the A92 from Sunday 09 January.

The overnight improvements will address defects in the road surface on the single carriageway section of the A92 near Rathillet, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Sunday 9 January and will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am across five nights. All works are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Friday 14 January.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime. Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £150,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A92, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"We've arranged for the convoy system to be in place over overnight to limit the impact felt by road users, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A92. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
