£19m Housing Development Completed In Paisley

Sanctuary Scotland and Paisley Housing Association have completed a £19 million housing development in Glenburn.

The large development of 130 homes at Skye Crescent – known as Gleniffer Reach - has now been completed and families have started moving in.

It represents a unique link-up between Sanctuary Scotland and Paisley Housing Association working together to address the issue of much-needed homes for affordable rent.

In addition, Sanctuary, through its Sanctuary Homes division are offering 22 of the 131 homes for sale through shared equity.

Thirty of the homes located near Glenburn library - are offered for rent by ourselves here at Paisley Housing Association while the remainder are for Sanctuary tenants.

It is one of the biggest single housing developments in Paisley in recent years and has the full support of the Scottish Government and Renfrewshire Council.

Kathleen McCutcheon, our Chief Executive, said: "These homes demonstrate our commitment to keep on building much-needed new homes for our community.

"We readily acknowledge the support of Renfrewshire Council and the Scottish Government and are proud of our partnership with Sanctuary who share our vision of building homes where people want to live. It is worth noting that the homes have been completed against the backdrop of a challenging ongoing health emergency.

"We are grateful for the efforts everyone put in to make them a reality for the people we serve as housing associations."

Developer Cruden Building (West) handed over the completed development to both associations at the beginning of November.

Paisley Housing Association is providing our tenants with 17- three apartment homes, 11 four-apartment properties and two wheelchair-suitable homes. The total cost to Paisley Housing Association is £4.9 million

Gordon Lee, Director of Cruden Building (West) said: "Cruden are delighted to complete this significant new development for Sanctuary and Paisley Housing Association. The Skye Crescent project has created much-needed energy efficient, affordable homes to the Glenburn area of Paisley.

"In addition to building new homes, we also build new communities, and it was vitally important that we supported the residents of Glenburn and the surrounding areas by providing a range of community benefits. These included valuable jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities together with donations to local schools and community groups."

The first tenants of Paisley Housing Association to move in are Sianice Hunter and partner Aiden Devine who have a one year old son Blake. They were welcomed to their new home by Housing Officer George Gray.

Aiden said: "We are delighted with our new home which looks fantastic and we’re very much looking forward to settling in."
