Construction News Image
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland have welcomed Minister for Public Finance, Planning & Community Welfare, MSP Tom Arthur, to see the progress being made on a programme of local road infrastructure improvements at Springfield Road, Springhill Road and the 5 Ways Junction in Barrhead.

Situated off Springfield Road, Duncarnock in Barrhead offers a choice of two, three, four and five bedroom homes to provide a range of options for first time buyers and growing families. The development will also include a provision of 25 affordable homes for social rent, 27 Entry Level Homes for Sale, as well as further contributions towards the provision of affordable homes locally as part of the Section 75 agreement with East Renfrewshire Council.

This development forms a key part of the Barrhead South Masterplan which will also provide a range of benefits to the wider local community and includes a new railway station, transport upgrades and improvements to the Dams to Darnley Country Park.

Duncarnock will also boast a design that aims to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government Planning Policy for ‘Designing Streets' where new homes will be carefully positioned to create interest and character. This includes homes that have a dual aspect in order to maximise views over the surrounding countryside, the existing burn corridor, the public open space, as well as overlooking the public streets.

Taylor Wimpey is also proud to play a part in creating a greener, healthier future for its customers, colleagues and communities. As part of its environment strategy, the homebuilder will be making it easier for customers to lead a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

David Blair, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "The timing of Mr Arthur's visit has allowed him to see the investment and commitment that we have made to the early delivery of key infrastructure at Duncarnock. Our programme of local road infrastructure improvements, delivered ahead of first customers moving in, helps to make this a great place to live, as well as delivering improvements for the existing community and playing our part in the wider Barrhead South Masterplan vision.

"It's also really important to us that we create new communities that can be enjoyed by future generations. We're working hard to help our customers to live more sustainably and the homes at Duncarnock have many features which make it easier for them to save energy and water and work from home."

Tom Arthur MSP said: "It was great to have the opportunity to meet the senior team at Taylor Wimpey and see how work at Duncarnock is progressing, and also gain a greater understanding of the contribution it is making to the local community, in terms of both employment and infrastructure improvements. The chance to meet the apprentices and graduate trainees working on this development was also welcomed, and it was great to witness their obvious enthusiasm for the project. I look forward to being updated about the Duncarnock development as it progresses."
