£310,000 Surface Improvement Works Announced For A90

BEAR Scotland has announced that road surface improvement works worth £310,000 for the A90, northbound between Dundee and Perth, is set to get underway on Monday 15 November.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 between Middlebank Farm & Inchmartine House, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday 15 November and is expected to take place over eight nights. Works will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night with all works expected to be completed by 6.30am on Thursday 25 November, subject to weather conditions. No works are programmed for Friday or Saturday night.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a lane closure with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The off-slip into Westown will be closed on the first night of the project. The central reserve crossovers at Middlebank Farm will be closed during the works, with residents being diverted via Inchmichael & Inchture slips. All traffic management will be removed during the day.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £310,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"We've arranged for the convoy system and closures to be in place over overnight to limit the impact felt by road users, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information."
