BEAR Scotland have announced a new £310,000 project of essential refurbishment works is set to get underway on the A82 Borlum Bridge in Drumnadrochit later this month.

Specialist teams will be carrying out various maintenance activities, including concrete repairs, upgrades to the cathodic protection system and sub-surface drainage improvements to ensure that the structure, which was built in 1933, remains safe for years to come.

The majority of the work will take place beneath the bridge, which carries the A82 across the River Coiltie, meaning minimal disruption to road users throughout the project.

Work will start on Monday 23 August and is expected to take up to eight weeks to complete.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative said: "The carrying out of essential maintenance on Borlum Bridge by our teams will ensure the structure remains in a safe working condition.

"Most of the work will take place beneath the structure, meaning minimal impact to A82 traffic whilst the project is taking place, although we do ask that road users be aware of site traffic entering and exiting the site compound located near the trunk road.

"Teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible."
