Abbey Craig Repairs Complete Ahead Of Schedule

Construction News Image
The A907 Alloa Road is set to fully reopen to the public following a series of repairs.

The work on Abbey Craig was completed ahead of schedule, with the road reopening to traffic tomorrow, Wednesday 28 July.

A section of the road had been closed in both directions since 07 June in order for specialist contractors to make safe an area of rock fall.

This included scaling the rock face and removing loose material following the rock fall along with installing replacement safety netting.

Work was also carried out to remove a number of large fallen trees, rocks and boulders that were caught by the safety nets.

Convenor of Stirling Council's Environment and Housing Committee, Councillor Jim Thomson, said: "We want to thank drivers and local residents for their patience throughout the significant and challenging repair work on the Abbey Craig.

"I am pleased to report that work has been completed ahead of schedule in a safe and efficient manner."

Vice Convenor, Councillor Danny Gibson, added: "These repairs have been much-needed to ensure local residents and commuters remain safe on the A907 and surrounding areas, and we thank everyone for their understanding."

The road partially opened to traffic on Wednesday 21 July. Temporary traffic signals are in place between 8.30am and 5pm on working days with the road open to two-traffic outside these hours.

The traffic signals are in place to allow a utilities survey to be carried out. This will inform drainage designs to reduce flooding further east along the A907.
