A9 Burnside Lodge Road Improvement Works Announced

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland have announced road surface improvement works for the A9 Burnside Lodge, due to get underway on Wednesday 07 July.

The £45,000 project will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A9 between Chaplebank & Crossgates, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

Overnight improvements are set to begin on 07 July and are expected to take two nights to complete, with works taking place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night.

For the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect the operatives that are undertaking the works.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Representative, said: "These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface at this location on the A9, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.

"The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and motorists, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the work at night.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information."

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
