Surface Renewal Works For M9 Due To Begin

BEAR Scotland are due to begin surface renewal works along 1.9 kilometres of the northbound M9.

BEAR will carry out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland from Thursday 17 June.

For the safety of workers and road users, the M9 will be closed in the northbound direction between Junction 8 and Junction 9 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 17 and 18 June.

During these closures, a diversion route for eastbound traffic will be signposted from M9 Junction 8 onto the M876, M876 Junction 2, A9 and A91 before returning to the M9 at Junction 9 Bannockburn. This diversion will add an estimated 7 minutes and 2.4 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists on this section of the M9.

"Northbound carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we've planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.

"We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information."
