Glasgow City Council has approved over £1million in funding to construct a new community hub in Possilpark.
The £1.4m funding will support the creation of a new £2.9million community hub building to be run by the Possilpark People's Trust, an organisation which has for some time held aspirations to have a community-run hub offering a range of services for the people of the area. The Trust has raised £1.575million in funding from the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund and The Robertson Trust.
Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life officers have worked together with the Possilpark People's Trust to make sure that the new hub will be accessible to a wide range of organisations and deliver as many services as possible to the local community.
The creation of the hub aligns with the city council's ambitions to support local community-run services, with the building to be constructed in an area of Glasgow identified as a priority for a community hub.
