Angus Council has restarted a new energy efficiency pilot project aimed at tackling fuel poverty and energy inefficiency in private sector housing.
Home addresses in certain areas of Angus are receiving letters inviting them for a free survey of their property to help improve the energy efficiency of the home and reduce energy bills.
The surveys will be carried out by one of the two named contractors and will identify what suitable energy efficiency improvements could be made. Qualis Scotland Ltd are carrying out the work in the Arbroath area and Diversity Energy Solutions will conduct surveys at properties in Forfar, Kirriemuir, Brechin and Montrose areas. No other contractors have been engaged to do the work.
Residents will be provided with clear, precise information about potential measures and any timescales involved. In most cases these measures could be fully funded. In some, a small contribution may be required.
Contractor representatives will provide photo ID and a copy of the letter that the resident received. Residents should not allow surveys/access to their home if they have concerns about the legitimacy of someone calling at their door uninvited.
