Scotland Excel is to launch the first national framework to help councils source the supply, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging points.

The framework is being developed to support Scotland’s local authorities with their plans to introduce charging infrastructure, by giving them quick and efficient access to suppliers who will have gone through the detailed tender process.

The Centre of Procurement Expertise for Local Government has just published the Prior Information Notice (PIN) to let potential suppliers know the framework is being developed, ahead of the tender being published in summer.

Julie Welsh, Chief Executive of Scotland Excel, said: "The Scottish local government sector’s response to the climate emergency is gaining momentum with a key focus on reducing emissions and low carbon travel in coming years. Our new framework for electric vehicle charging points will underpin and support these efforts by giving all 32 Scottish councils access to a framework of suppliers ready to do business.

"Development of the framework is now firmly underway with the Prior Information Notice published to inform potential suppliers who could provide works and services around the supply, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging points.
