Work Starts On Temporary Road Layout Changes In Pollokshields

Work has commenced to make temporary road layout changes in Pollokshields, Glasgow, near to Glendale Primary School which will provide additional space for active travel during COVID-19.

Kenmure Street will soon be closed to all traffic (except cycles) between McCulloch Street and St Andrew's Road; whilst McCulloch Street will become a one-way street (eastbound) between Shields Road and Kenmure Street.

Warning of works will be provided in the local area by way of signage/yellow cones, with temporary local restrictions in place on waiting, loading and parking during the work itself.

The latest project is part of the Spaces for People programme which has seen a wide variety of temporary measures implemented across the city during the pandemic to provide extra space for walking, wheeling and cycling. Supported by funding from the Scottish Government (administered by Sustrans Scotland) these new measures at Pollokshields aim to increase the practicality and attractiveness of active travel and make it easier to keep a safe distance from others when out and about.
