Custom Build Homes (CBH) has been awarded planning permission for 10 new customisable homes in the vibrant new town of Shawfair.
New homeowners will have the opportunity to customise their home to suit their lifestyle now and in the future.
Customisable homes will bring much-needed diversity to the area of Shawfair, which to date has been dominated by larger new build providers. The impressive site is surrounded by acres of greenspace including a network of cycle and walking paths leading into the City of Edinburgh.
Due to the CV-19 pandemic, more people than ever are looking to move out of city centre areas in search of more space and greater input into the design and layout of their homes. The 3, 4- and 5-bedroom customisable house designs benefit from large windows, wide balconies and south-facing gardens around an attractive courtyard. Each home will offer spectacular views of the Pentlands and Edinburgh's historic skyline all year round and there are excellent road and rail links to Edinburgh Waverley and the Borders from the newly built Shawfair Station, situated within 5 minutes' walk.
Shawfair offers a newly designed "green town centre" with schools, offices, hot desking, shops, places to eat and exercise outlets – inside and out.
CBH has designed contemporary energy-efficient detached homes which offer a variety of unique layouts on each floor. The homes can be configured in 27 different ways depending on the needs of individual households. Each home will be constructed on behalf of purchasers and delivered as a 'blank canvas' for interior design. CBH will then support them to be "self-finished" or provide a house fitting service with the support of local Edinburgh Designer Victoria Hopkins.
The scheme is supported by BuildStore Mortgage Services for access to specialist custom build mortgage products and advice.
Tom Connor, Founder at Custom Build Homes, said:
"The prospect of custom housebuilding making its debut in Edinburgh excites me, particularly adjacent to the Shawfair development which has pushed the boundaries of what a new town should be. We're on a mission to enable anyone who wishes to live in a home which they have designed or customised possible and affordable. For this to happen in my home city for the first time will be a great thing."
