Maxi Construction has been appointed to redevelop the former Abington Primary School in South Lanarkshire to create a new community and business centre.

The works include:

• The construction of a single storey extension to form a community area with two multi-purpose rooms, toilets and showers, kitchen and reception area

• The refurbishment of the existing building to form business and office space

• External works including car parking and accessible building entry.

John Aitchison, Maxi Construction's Managing Director, said: "We're looking forward to working with South Lanarkshire Council and the project team to deliver the regeneration of this building for the benefit of the local community."

The project team includes Principal Designer and Quantity Surveyor Armour Construction Consultants, Architect The McLennan Partnership Ltd, Structural Engineer McColm Civil & Structural Engineers and Mechanical & Electrical Engineer Davie + McCulloch Ltd.

A local community organisation will operate the facility on completion.
