Argyll and Bute Council are seeking entries for their 2020 built environment Design Awards.

They will be recognising, promoting and celebrating examples of exceptional design quality, with a focus on sustainability, which reflects the council's commitment to meeting its climate change responsibilities.

Policy Lead for Planning and Regulatory Services, Councillor David Kinniburgh, encouraged people to enter, saying: "We recognise that new buildings, designed and built to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency, help support our environment in highly imaginative ways.

"These awards give people a tremendous opportunity to have their work professionally endorsed by the council's planning team.

The award categories are:

• Sustainable design;

• Aesthetic design;

• Design for under £100,000

• People's Choice Award.

The 2020 awards will consider completed projects that have a Building (Scotland) Act 2003 Completion Certificate dated between 01 July 2015 and 01 May 2020.

Previous awards have highlighted high quality developments which combine innovative design with superb environmental performance, and have included projects across the area, from small islands to large mainland towns.

The high quality of architecture is one of the reasons Argyll and Bute is a great place for people to live in, to work in and to visit and the council is celebrating the very best design projects the area has to offer.
