Dundee Environmental Projects Recognised In Awards

Environmental projects across Dundee have been recognised with a number of awards.

The 'It's Your Neighbourhood' initiative run by Keep Scotland Beautiful in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society.

Royal Horticultural Society Bloom in Britain discretionary awards were given to The Maxwell Centre of Dundee for involving children and young people. Additionally, Bonnie Dundee was recognised in the discretionary awards for growing communities.

Neighbourhood Services Convener Councillor Anne Rendall, said: "It's great to see Dundee so well represented at this year's 'It's Your Neighbourhood' awards, with 19 groups recognised for their efforts.

"The awards highlight the various groups coming together to enrich our city. Community gardens, primary schools, social enterprises and volunteer groups have all been awarded for their fantastic work to enhance Dundee."

More than 160 groups from across Scotland were praised for their commitment to improving local neighbourhoods.

Communities and Place Manager Keep Scotland Beautiful, Katie Murray said: "Every It's Your Neighbourhood participant deserves this recognition for their hard work and determination to improve their own community.

"By volunteering their own time, the 2019 groups have managed to support hundreds of environmental initiatives across Scotland."

"I hope that their enthusiasm inspires many more people to take part in helping to improve their local community in 2020."

The campaign focuses on community participation and celebrating the individual merits of each group.
