Fife Council has approved a proposed £250 million development of the former Tullis Russelll paper factory.
Up to 850 new homes have been proposed for the 130-acre site between Glenrothes and Markinch.
The development will be residential-led while also including a care home and retirement village alongside commercial, retail and leisure space.
Advance Construction (GD) – a partnership between Advance Construction and McGill's Buses owners Sandy and James Easdale – will oversee the development.
