Transport Scotland Announces A725 Road Closures

Transport Scotland have announced a road closure for the A725 northbound or southbound at various locations between Bothwell Bridge Junction and Shawhead Junction (North Road) for up to five nights.

The A725 carriageways will only be closed in one direction at any given time.

These closures are required for the safety of road users and the workforce during road surfacing works and white lining works.

This series of overnight closures is scheduled to take place from Tuesday 1 October to Saturday 5 October 2019, from 8 PM to 6 AM, at the following locations: 

Tuesday 1 October

A725 northbound between Bothwell Bridge and Bellziehill Junction, including Raith underpass.

As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:

• A725 northbound Raith Junction on-slip road from Raith roundabout

• A725 northbound Orbiston Junction on-slip road

• A725 northbound Bellziehill Junction off-slip road

Wednesday 2 October

A725 northbound carriageway between Bellziehill Junction on-slip and Diamond Junction off-slip.

As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:

• A725 northbound Bellziehill Junction on-slip road

• A725 northbound Diamond Junction off-slip road (James Street)

Thursday 3 October

A725 southbound between Shawhead Junction (North Road) and Bellziehill Junction off-slip.

As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:

• A725 southbound Diamond Junction off-slip road (James Street)

• A725 southbound Bellziehill Junction off-slip

Friday 4 October

A725 southbound between Bellziehill Junction on-slip and Raith Junction off-slip to Raith roundabout.

As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:

• A725 southbound Bellziehill Junction on-slip road

• A725 southbound Orbiston Junction off-slip road

• A725 southbound Orbiston Junction on-slip road

The works are subject to favourable weather conditions and will be undertaken in the above sequence on the planned date or the day after only.

Where necessary due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances a stage of works will be cancelled if not undertaken within these two days.

Signed diversion routes will be in place during these overnight closures, therefore please allow extra time for your journey.
