Celtic Football Club has unveiled major plans to transform its Barrowfield training ground to faciltate the club's women's and academy teams.

The Scottish champions aim to redevelop the site to feature one of the largest indoor football arenas in Scotland, as well as a state of the art gymnasium and new extended parking and changing facilities.

The new site will also include two full sized outdoor grass pitches, two first class artificial pitches, both outdoor and indoor, as well as an outdoor warm up area.  

A further phase of the redevelopment would also see the construction of new refreshment and grandstand facilities for spectators.

The Celtic first team will continue to use the Lennoxtown training base, but are expected to take advantage of the new indoor complex in poor weather conditions.

Glasgow City Council is now considering the plans.
