Transport Scotland have announced two drop-in events in Birnam later this month to provide local communities and road users with an update on the design process for the section of the A9 to be dualled between Pass of Birnam and Tay Crossing.

Following community engagement events held at the end of March, a number of whole route options have been developed which will now be assessed alongside the community preferred route option.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity Michael Matheson said: "The co-creative process that took place last year for the challenging section of the A9 to be dualled between Pass of Birnam and Tay Crossing helped us form a good working relationship with the local community and broaden the vision for dualling this section of the A9.


"Having held community engagement events in March on a range of options including the community preferred route option, we have now developed these options into a number of whole route options to be assessed alongside the community preferred route option in the next stage of assessment.

"I would encourage members of the local community, road users and anyone else with an interest in this scheme, to come along to one of the events in Birnam later this month to see the options being presented. We expect to identify a preferred option for this section of the route later this year."
