The Highland Council has hosted a drop-in information session about the next phase of slope stabilisation works above the A890 at Stromeferry and to discuss the plans for traffic management.

The 2018 annual inspection report highlighted areas for the Council to consider and plan future works. These works are currently being designed and have been programmed for September and October 2019. The works will require night time closures and daytime convoys.

The nightly closures, from 10pm to 7am, will start on the 9th September and continue until the 8th of November. There will be one weekend closure from Friday night until Monday morning, over the weekend of the 21st/22nd September.

The Highland Council's Principal Engineer with the Development and Infrastructure Service Garry Smith said: "The works this autumn are planned to replace section of existing rock protection in areas identified during survey work carried out last year. This forms part of the Councils on-going maintenance programme for the rock slope.

"There will be daytime traffic management through the whole of the works but delays should not be significant as there is no 'road to rail' works this year.

"Traffic will use the existing road during the day so there will also be no weight restriction this year and the route will be available for all vehicles."
