CCG Submits Application For Major Housing Development

A planning application for 330 new homes in Whitlawburn has been submitted by CCG in partnership with hub South West.

As part of a £42m housing-led regeneration, CCG has proposed 330 mixed-tenure homes to replace 380 existing flats with 230 homes for rent and 100 for private sale.

The rented homes to be delivered on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council and West Whitlawburn Housing Cooperative will include one and two bedroom flats; two and three and four bedroom houses; cottage flats and bungalows. A proportion of the flats (including ground floor) and cottage flats are to be to an amenity standard suitable for elderly residents.

The private homes for sale will be delivered by CCG Homes with information for prospective buyers set to be made available in the New Year.

Executive Director of Housing and Technical Resources, Daniel Lowe said: "A master plan for the area was developed after extensive consultation with the local community over a number of years. A key aim of the masterplan is to create a distinctive and attractive residential development with streetscapes that deliver a seamless, integrated connection between homes for rent and sale whilst carefully connecting Whitlawburn into surrounding communities."

Paul Farrell, West Whitlawburn Housing Cooperative Director said: "West Whitlawburn Housing Cooperative is delighted to be part of such an innovative, exciting and hugely important project for the Whitlawburn area. The vision that South Lanarkshire Council is displaying for the future of Whitlawburn is very impressive. We have been enthused by the Council's drive, ability and commitment to make this mammoth partnership project work successfully. The project will substantially and significantly improve the residential environment for all concerned."

As part of the overall regeneration, CCG will also undertake a series of community benefit initiatives over the duration of the contract programme including job, training and apprenticeship opportunities as well as providing a series of contributions to the local community.

CCG Director, Calum Murray said: "The CCG Group is delighted to have taken the next step forward in the transformation of Whitlawburn where we will ensure that all of the new homes for rent and sale will be delivered to the highest standards of quality and environmental efficiency. The opportunity to create a lasting legacy in our hometown is a hugely exciting prospect where we will complement the housing delivery with £50,000 of community investment as well as providing job and training opportunities."

Michael McBrearty, Chief Executive of hub South West said: "The submission of these plans marks a significant milestone in the progression of an important regeneration project. The Whitlawburn development will be a renaissance for the neighborhood and the wider area and hub South West is very pleased to be collaborating on this project of high-quality new homes alongside CCG and South Lanarkshire Council. The additional social inclusivity measures to be delivered throughout construction ensures that the project will represent a win-win scenario for the local community."
