Community Project Launches To Help Develop Future Of Dunterlie

A new community-led project to help develop future plans for the Dunterlie area of Barrhead have been launched by East Renfrewshire Council.

Over the coming months, local residents will be able to take part in the Making Places Dunterlie project through a range of creative events to help shape a vision for the future of the outdoor recreational space in Dunterlie.

The project, which is funded by the Scottish Government and being led by independent experts Pidgin Perfect, invites people of all ages to help come up with new ideas.

There will be opportunities to replace and renew facilities surrounding the Dunterlie Resource Centre, creating a more open and inviting atmosphere, and to explore introducing exciting new facilities.

The first community drop-in event is set for Wednesday 13 March, 6-8pm and this will be followed by a celebration day on Saturday 23 March, 12-4pm. Both events will take place at Dunterlie Resource Centre. There is also an online survey available for those who want to have their say.

Commenting on the initiative, Community Services and Community Safety Convener, Councillor Colm Merrick, said: "Dunterlie has terrific potential to be an accessible and exciting green space for all its residents and visitors. It already has an active and engaged community who provide vital support to local residents. Any redevelopment will put this community at its heart, so it is extremely important that the voices of the whole area are heard and listened to when designing its future. We are committed to reaching the best possible outcome for Dunterlie's communities and I ask everyone in the area to please complete the survey and please also try to come along to one of our events. You will find them worthwhile."
