Scottish Water has launched a project to upgrade the water network in Fenwick, East Ayrshire.
The £540,000 upgrades will be delivered by contractor Clancy Docwra, beginning on Monday 18 February.
Approximately 1.7 miles of pipework will begin on Kilmaurs Road between Fenwick and a point near to Rowallan Castle Golf Club
Traffic management will be implemented during the work.
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's corporate affairs regional manager, said: "This upgrade work will help reduce the chance of pipes bursting and means that our customers in the area continue to enjoy clear, fresh water.
"We'd like to thank all road users and customers in advance for their patience and understanding during this work."
He added: "Some customers may experience a change in water pressure and/or discoloured water during the works. If this happens, simply turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen and let the water flow slowly until it runs clear."
The project is expected to take around three months to complete.
