The public is being urged to give their opinions over plans to improve walking and cycling links surrounding Inverness Railway Station.

A public consultation has officially opened and residents in the area are being called to give their feedback on three key areas.

The areas are Academy Street, Farraline Park, and the link between Rose Street and the Railway Station entrance and the Falcon Square and Crown Road junction.

The Highland Council and HITRANS have been working with Sustrans Scotland and a range of city centre stakeholders on proposals to improve walking and cycling links to all three Railway Station entrances, following funding from the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland through Sustrans' Community Links Programme.

Options include widening pavements, reducing traffic speeds and introducing streetscape features to enhance the look and feel of the city centre. The designs were prepared by Civic Engineers, a civil and structural engineering company with a strong track record of designing and developing public realm improvements. The options were developed in dialogue with local access groups, active travel stakeholders, Inverness BID, bus operators and key organisations including Living Streets Scotland.
