Investigation work is to get underway in Eyemouth to improve the waste water infrastructure.

The long-term investment will increase protection against flooding.

The ground work will commence on Monday 17 September and last around two weeks.

The future work will be designed to improve the capacity of the sewer network and better protect properties and streets from flooding.


There will be partial road closures on Church Street and Harbour Road.


The work is being carried out to confirm ground conditions and the placement of utility services in the area ahead of the construction of a new water storage tank by Scottish Water alliance partner amey Black and Veatch (aBV).

Scott Fraser, Scottish Water's Regional Corporate Affairs Manager, said: "Scottish Water is working to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in Eyemouth. The investigative work is an essential part of the process before we start major infrastructure improvement projects.


"We appreciate these works are disruptive to local residents and would like to thank them for their patience. 


"Once the investigation is complete we will be able to finalise the design of these works and we will continue to keep the community updated on progress."

An information event on the sewer flooding prevention plan will take place at Eyemouth Community Centre on Monday 10 September between 4pm and 7pm.
