A £2.5 million upgrade project has been completed at Barrhead Foundry to improve the swimming pool, health suite and changing rooms.
The swimming pool upgrade has incorporated modernised equipment to ensure even better water quality. Natural, energy-efficient lighting and new tiling have also been installed to further enhance the swimming experience.
The new changing village provides a more spacious layout, with new cubicles, lockers and showers.
The health suite, which includes a new sauna cabin and steam room, has also been refurbished with a new shower cubicle and changing area.
Gym customers will benefit from upgraded and reconfigured changing areas, which incorporate new showers and lockers.
Council Leader Tony Buchanan said: "This significant investment by the council has improved and modernised the swimming pool and changing areas at the Foundry and I'm sure will be welcomed by our residents. The new changing village is more family friendly, with more cubicles, and provides modern shower facilities which were required. This was a major project and it's fantastic to see it completed on schedule, with residents from Barrhead and beyond now able to benefit from these improved facilities."
Anthony McReavy, Chief Executive of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, added: "I'm delighted with the improvements which have been made and I'd like to thank our customers for their patience during these works. They will all notice a big difference in the quality of the pool, health suite and changing areas."
The new facilities will be available to customers when the pool re-opens on Monday 03 September.
