National training provider Develop Training Limited (DTL) has secured a contract to deliver a host of new apprenticeships.

The contract, awarded by Skills Development Scotland, will allow DTL to deliver at least 45 new Modern Apprenticeships.

Chris Wood, Chief Executive of DTL, said: "We are delighted to have been successful with our tender to Skills Development Scotland. Winning this contract will enable us to deliver more apprenticeships for new customers, and extend our role in helping to tackle the industry's chronic skills shortage."

The company delivers a wide range of programmes under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme in the water and gas sectors, including network construction, domestic national gas installation and maintenance, and level seven management apprenticeships.

Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) help employers to develop their workforce by training new staff, and up-skilling existing employees. Open to candidates aged 16 upwards, MAs let people earn a wage while gaining an industry-recognised qualification.

Each year, more than 27,000 people start a Modern Apprenticeship in Scotland.
