Construction work has started on the Almond Valley Bridge in Livingston.

Works involve the replacement of the movement joint at the bridges southern end and resurfacing sections of the concrete deck.

The multi-span bridge carries the A899 Livingston Road over the River Almond and a number of local roads and footpaths in Livingston.

Work is expected to last approximately five to six weeks.

A number of diversions will be in place throughout the project.

When work is completed on the northbound carriageway, the southbound will be closed and traffic will use the northbound carriageway.
