Funding Agreed For New Community Sports Facility In Dunoon

Funding of up to £100,000 has been agreed to build a new community sports facility in Dunoon.

Amateur Boxing Club had secured funding from various investors including sportscotland, before Argyll and Bute Council's grant.

Work can now progress to build a training venue in the grounds of Dunoon Stadium.

Councillor Gary Mulvaney, Policy Lead for Strategic Finance and Capital Regeneration, said: "Any investment of council funding must work hard for Argyll and Bute. There is enthusiasm for this project, and strong financial backing. Today's council investment recognises the money awarded from Sport Scotland and raised locally for this project and will help support young people through sport."

The centre is scheduled to open in Spring 2019.
