SP Energy Network (SPEN) is continuing work on the South West Scotland Connections Project.
Construction teams have battled through tough terrain to complete a key stage of the scheme, which involves developing a number of individual connections from windfarms and new infrastructure to enable energy to be collected and fed to the national grid.
SPEN's latest development has seen the newly built overhead line between Glenglass and Blackhill Substations in Ayrshire being successfully energised, allowing both Whiteside Hill and Sanquhar Wind Farms to connect to the transmission network.
Elsewhere, the overhead wood pole line connection for Blackcraig Wind Farm in Dumfries and Galloway has also gone live, with work on the connection delivered alongside the South West Scotland Connection Projects.
SPEN said the successful connections "are another sign of the key role our business is taking in the delivery of clean, renewable energy".
