Work to upgrade two East Renfrewshire play parks is now complete.

The £350,000 scheme was carried out at Cowan Park in Barrhead and Kingston Playing Fields in Neilston.

At Cowan Park a brand new play area has been installed adjacent to the swings currently in place. Features include a wide range of play equipment such as six metre high slides, a double zip wire, accessible roundabout, sensory area and much more. Work also included installing a new fence around the war memorial and adding picnic benches to the area.

Elsewhere, the revamp at Kingston Playing Fields included installing a large climbing frame with slide as well as new swings, an accessible roundabout and some toddlers play equipment. A new fence has also been put in place to replace the existing structure.

Cllr Alan Lafferty said: "I am delighted to see these works completed at both Cowan Park and Kingston Playing Fields. As well as upgrading the existing play park at Kingston for the Neilston community, the work at Cowan Park has created a quite fantastic play area which will benefit local people for years to come.

"We have already seen the impact that the improved play area at Rouken Glen has had, and I'm sure that by putting similar equipment into these parks it will provide a boost for these two fantastic green spaces too."
