Plans have been revealed to replace a water main in Nairn.

Scottish Water has confirmed it will draw up plans for the works on Moss-side Road following a number of bursts in recent months.

Around 1km of six-inch water pipe will be replaced, with scoping work scheduled to be carried out to understand any complexities involved in the project.

A programme for delivery will then be developed, including timescales and the best method of renewing the pipe.

Gavin Steel, of Scottish Water, said: "While we have taken a number of measures to reduce the risk of bursts at this location, including installing devices to control the water pressure through the pipe, we recognise that further action is required due to the increasing frequency of bursts and the impact these are having on our customers.

"We will now develop a new capital project to replace the water main and focus on finalising a programme for delivery. In the meantime, we will continue to manage pressures within the water main at Moss-side Road to minimise the risk of further bursts, as well as ensuring a prompt response to any which do occur.

"We apologise to those who have been impacted by previous bursts and will ensure we keep customers in the area updated as the new project progresses."
