Five-Week Drop In Decision Times On Major Applications

New figures have revealed a five-week drop in planning decision times for all major developments in Scotland.

According to the latest quarterly planning performance statistics, the overall average decision time for all major developments was 27.7 weeks for 63 applications, just over five weeks quicker than the previous quarter (33 weeks).

For local developments, the average decision time was 9.1 weeks for 6,544 applications, a slight increase when compared with decision times from the previous quarter (9 weeks).

Overall, there were 429 local developments decided that had processing agreements in place, with 321 (75%) of these meeting agreed timescales.

In addition, there were a 21 major applications decided that were subject to processing agreements with 16 (76%0 of these meeting agreed timescales.

The overall rate of approvals for all types of application was 93.7% between October to December 2017, a slight decrease from the previous quarter (93.9%) as well as compared with Q3 in 2016/17 (94.2%).
