Clark Contracts has started restoration work at Saughton Park in Edinburgh.
The contractor will build a new café and bring the historic stables back into use, as well as provide new office space for park staff during the 40-week project.
In addition, a new permanent home will be established for the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society with a 70-seater venue provided for community use. Other features include new public toilets, as well as a changing places toilet, and a bothy will be built for volunteers and storage.
Funding for the scheme has been secured by the City of Edinburgh Council from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, said: "We look forward to working with the City of Edinburgh Council on this exciting project and we are eager to see the park fully restored and being enjoyed by the community."
