Work Continues On £22m Inverurie Water Treatment Facility

Construction News Image
Construction work is continuing on a new £22 million waste water treatment facility in Inverurie.

The scheme is being delivered by ESD, a joint venture between Galliford Try, Stantec Treatment and Black and Veatch.

In order to install new pipework connecting to the treatment works, the B993 Keithhall Road will be closed for around three weeks from Saturday, 31 March. Diversions will be in place.

Keith Robertson, ESD site manager for Inverurie, said: "This £22m project will use an innovative process called 'Nereda', which is a new method of wastewater treatment, pioneered by several wastewater companies in the Netherlands.

"The work has been going well on site and has so far taken place entirely within the boundary of the existing Scottish Water site, without any day to day impact on customers.

"Unfortunately this road closure is necessary to excavate and install this pipework safely. We have timed this work to coincide with two weeks of the school Easter holidays in an effort to keep disruption to a minimum. We are also working with Aberdeenshire Council to ensure that access is maintained to the nearby cemetery.

"I would like to thank customers and road users for their patience. We would ask them to bear with us and plan their journeys during this period to take account of the road closure.  Our team will be work to get this phase finished as quickly as possible."
