Scotland TranServ is to begin work on a £350,000 road resurfacing project in Dumfries and Galloway.
Around 2.5kms of the A75 near Newton Stewart will be repaired over two phases. Work will start at 7pm on Saturday, 17 March with the Benfield to Blackhill Croft stretch of carriageway. The second phase, West of Blackhill Croft will follow on, with completion by 7am on Friday, 30 March.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ's Principal Road Design Engineer, said: "This is a significant resurfacing project, with elements of road reconstruction also required under this programme of work. We have been in liaison with key local stakeholders to ensure the works are scheduled with minimum impact and maximum efficiency for neighbouring communities and businesses using the trunk road.
"While the majority of works will be carried out under overnight convoy, because of the scale of the engineering works, it will also be necessary to manage vehicles on the A75 under temporary traffic lights during the day. Scotland TranServ has resurfaced large stretches of the A75 in the last few years, with a number of other projects being planned over the next few months."
