Retail property owners in the Highlands are being urged to carry out inspection and maintenance checks on their glazed canopies.
The Highland Council made the call following incidents in Inverness retail parks where glazed walkway panels have failed.
As a precaution, property owners with glazed canopy type arrangements are being asked to check they have adequate inspection and maintenance arrangements in place.
The council said such maintenance checks should ensure that the glazing, including the method of fixing and support, has been properly maintained in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
Owners are also being reminded that the primary responsibility for ensuring the safety of members of the public in and around their buildings lies with them. The responsibility of public safety lies with all building owners to inspect their premises whether they are commercial, retail, business, public or privately owned.
The local authority added it is not aware of this being a national issue, however it has contacted other councils throughout Scotland asking if they have had similar issues in their areas.
