Work Begins On Huntly Swimming Pool Upgrade

Construction News Image
Work is underway to upgrade Huntly Swimming Pool in Aberdeenshire.

More than £300,000 is being invested to improve the facility, with both swimming pool plant systems being modernised to ensure they continue to provide appropriate water treatment.

Other features include;

• Removing the old spa pool, which hasn't worked for a number of years, to provide greater plant room space for the facility's paddling pool.

• Replacing the building's heat recovery system

• Installing a new air conditioning system

• Installing a new ceiling to the fitness suite

• Replacing the changing room floor and tiling the communal area.

The project began on Monday and is scheduled to take 12 weeks to complete.

John Harding, Head of Lifelong Learning and Leisure at Aberdeenshire Council, said: "We are delighted these essential works are now taking place. This is a large investment of over £300,000. We know some people will be disappointed at the loss of the old spa pool but it was no longer repairable and its removal will allow for some other essential plant upgrades.

"We are confident these wider improvements will make the swimming pools, gym and changing environments far more comfortable for customers."
