amey Black & Veatch (aBV) is continuing work on a £3.2 million waste water infrastructure improvement project in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire.
The next phase of the scheme involves installing new pipework and a new sewer chamber on Viewpark Drive. Work is now underway and is anticipated to last around six weeks.
To carry out the scheme safely, a road closure is necessary at the crossroads of Viewpark Drive and Victoria Road. Road traffic management and diversions are in place.
The £3.2m project is part of a £250 million, five-year investment programme announced by Scottish Water in 2013 to improve river water quality and the natural environment of the River Clyde, enable the Greater Glasgow area to grow and develop, alleviate sewer flooding and deal with the effects of increased rainfall from climate change.
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water Corporate Affairs Regional Manager, said: "This work in Viewpark Drive is part of a programme of work to help tackle historical flooding issues. We understand how much disruption flooding can cause for residents so, when complete, it will greatly benefit the area.
"I'd like to thank affected customers and road users in advance for their patience and understanding and can assure them that any short-term inconvenience will be far out-weighed by the long-term benefits this investment will deliver for the affected properties."
