Breedon is in talks to acquire a "substantial part" of Belfast-based construction materials business, Lagan Group.
In a statement this morning, 19 February, Breedon confirmed it was in discussiona with Lagan and its major shareholders "in connection with a possible acquisition of a substantial part of the Lagan business".
"There can be no certainty that the possible acquisition will proceed, nor as to the terms of the possible acquisition. A further announcement will be made as appropriate," Breedon said.
Established in 1960, Lagan has annual sales of over £350 million with more than 1,000 employees.
Breedon already operates a joint venture (JV) with Lagan subsidiary Whitemountain, supplying asphalt for the £745 million Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie–Tipperty project in Scotland.
