Repair work to manhole covers is to begin next month in Stromness.
The scheme is required to maintain existing infrastructure in the town and will get underway on Monday, 05 February.
A section of Back Road between Downies Lane and North End Road will be closed between 5pm – 9pm to allow the work to go ahead. Diversions will be in place and completion is scheduled for 09 February.
Scottish Water said the project is not linked to a larger scheme in the town to improve the waste water network and protect the local environment.
Gavin Steel, from Scottish Water, said: The work that is planned is essential to ensure that our existing infrastructure in the road is able to continue serving customers safely and reliably.
"We will do all we can to complete the repair work as quickly as possible; and have made efforts to minimise traffic disruption by restricting the road closure to the evening.
"I would like to thank affected residents and road users for their understanding while we carry out this necessary work."
