A public consultation has been launched over East Lothian's Draft Local Housing Strategy.

The document sets out the council's strategy, priorities and plans for the delivery of housing and related services across the region until 2023.

Following approval by local Councillors, residents are now being invite to give their views on the plan, which sets out a range of actions to address identified housing issues across both social and private sector housing.

The wide ranging strategy also addresses homelessness, fuel poverty, energy efficiency, housing quality and support, and specialist provision for people with particular needs.

Cllr Jim Goodfellow said: "This strategy takes into account not only key housing issues, but takes into consideration the aspirations and needs of local people and communities. Our vision is that by 2023 we will have healthy and sustainable homes in vibrant communities that meet increasing levels of need, will reduce inequalities and improve wellbeing for all across all stages of people's lives.

"We have already consulted widely with local people and our partners, and this consultation will give people a further opportunity to give us their feedback before we publish our final document in the spring."

The consultation will run until Friday, 09 March.
