Work to improve a bridge in Cowal, Argyll and Bute is now complete.

The Kilbridemore Bridge at Glendaruel has been strengthened and widened to allow larger vehicles to use it.

The work was carried out as part of the council's wider Bridge Strengthening and Replacement Programme.

Cllr Roddy McCuish said: "Firstly, I'd like to thank the public for their co-operation and understanding while we carried out this essential bridge strengthening work. It will really benefit local residents and businesses.

"The work has massively increased the bridge's weight capacity from the previous 3 tonne Maximum Gross Weight (MGW) to 40 tonnes MGW and by widening it larger vehicles, such as timber lorries, are now able to manoeuvre more easily.

"We are also grateful to the owners of the private track near Glendaruel Caravan Park, who allowed the use of the it as a temporary diversion to allow deliveries to reach residents."
